Description

Dyed using a traditional viridian pigment technique this Type 456 Janus Shirt from Tender has been designed and made in England. Cut from unfinished cotton molleton which is a heavyweight material with a soft, textural feel, the collar neckline has been cut to stand upright or can be folded over to a more traditional pointed design. A woven Tender label has been sewn onto the inner nape of the neck and small circular custom stamped solid copper buttons fasten the front. On the outside stitching splits two large patch pockets into a lower hand-warmer compartment and an upper storage pocket which both have bar tack stitching at the corners. The body and sleeves have been cut straight without a cuff.

This season Tender founder William Kroll has studied historical dye techniques that use materials such as iron rust and viridian to bring a unique colour tone to jackets and knitwear that have each been crafted with a close attention to detail and passion. Favoured by artists such as Van Gogh, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky Viridian also carries connections with hospitals due to its ability to complement blood red, whilst iron rust dying can be traced back to the Egyptian First Dynasty.
